X2-NOISE 2003 Seminars

In 2003, two Seminars have been organised on the topic of :

" Airport Noise Capacity "

The first seminar happened June 4 & 5 in Krakow providing a new opportunity to involve Central and Eastern Europe in the work of the X2-Noise Network. It was notable that this seminar was held in Poland the week preceding that country's referendum on joining the European Union. Participants came from current EU, European accession states , countries of the former Soviet Union and the USA.

The objective of this seminar was two-fold:

  • definition of airport noise capacity and the factors influencing it;

  • a first pass at developping the ACARE Strategic Research Agenda on Aircraft Noise,                    through the identification of gaps and research priorities;

The first of these was attained through an extensive series of presentations and discussions, the second through three revolving brainstorm sessions involving all participants in each session.

The second seminar was organised September 16 in Kyev,  now focussing on the mechanisms and tools available for the assessment, management and enhancement of  airport noise capacity.
